"Park Rabbit"

Episode 1   "In The Beginning"

Once there was a wild rabbit who lived in a public park in Northern California.
He spent his day looking for food, keeping his home clean and neat and keeping
up his social life. He was very popular among the eligible female rabbits. He lived
high up a hill away from most of the park visitors. But gradually more people
climbed up the hill. Some of them left their garbage behind. The wild rabbit liked
his world to be clean and neat, and as soon as any garbage littered his world he
quickly scurried to clean it up and bury it.

Soon he went on the offensive and came down the hill looking to make his world
more beautiful and free of litter. While on patrol a Park Ranger while driving
around the backroads of this public wilderness noticed the rabbit attacking the
litter and burying it. Ranger Bill Johnson or as he was well known of as "Sushi
Bill" because of his fondness for raw Japanese fish was a bruising muscular man
who loved pumping iron and was fond of the two machine guns in the front of his
squad car.

He tried to catch the rabbit's attention but the rabbit scampered off. Over time the
rabbit developed confidence in Sushi Bill and was encouraged to be driven
around the park to pick up trash. The rabbit was so successful at  helping to
clean up the park Sushi Bill convinced the Park Service to make a little Ranger
uniform complete with hat and to empower the rabbit they gave him a squirt gun
and taught him how to use it even though he was just a rabbit.

Scientists in government laboratories found that a weak solution of yogurt and
water helped accelerate the biodegrading of litter and soon the rabbit's squirt
gun was filled with watered down yogurt. And, the rabbit was given a name
Albert Jack or Al for short. One day the Park Rabbit was on patrol hunting down
litter he came upon a camp ground with picnic tables. People were taking their
hamburger wrappings and leaving them on the picnic table. The Park Rabbit
scampered over to the picnickers, jumped up on the table, stood up on his hind
legs and wiggled his nose at the offending picnicker who left the burger
wrappings on the table pointing at them with indignation. The rabbit was ignored.

Once again the Park Rabbit stood up and started to wave his long floppy ears. The
rabbit made no noise as rabbits have a quiet way of asserting themselves. This
time the fast food crowd tried to shoo the rabbit away. When Al the Park Rabbit
wouldn't quit they took a swipe at him. That was too much. The Park Rabbit
stood up on his hind legs in silent indignation and disappeared. Five or ten
minutes later a Park Ranger squad car came barrelling down the road with its
lights and siren on. Whoo Whoo Whoo and the door opened and Ranger Sushi
Bill came out of the car with his pistol and radio strapped to his belt. Over he
went to the picnic tables to reprimand the campers and a few seconds later
out of the squad car pops the Park Rabbit chasing after him.

Don't even think of leaving litter on your table. The Park Rabbit will get you.
